Class #2: Don't Be Afraid!

Don't worry, little guy!  APUSH isn't that hard!
It's time for another meeting of our APUSH Summer Session.  I hope you've had a productive week and are finding ways to keep enjoying summer vacation while also getting a little bit of homework done.  Don't let the assignment list on the website scare you!!  Remember that each night class contains as much class time as one whole week during the regular school year.  So,  the assignments cover a whole week, too.

Picture our APUSH class here!
Do you have a friend who has been thinking about taking AP U.S. History?  Encourage them to come to the summer sessions!!  It's not too late...and remember everyone earns extra credit points for attending.  This Tuesday our class will end at 8:30 p.m. instead of 9:00 p.m.

Finally, don't forget that next week our class will be at a special time AND a special place.  Since we'll be discussing the Puritans arriving on the Mayflower, our class is going SAILING on July 31, 2012.  Please check your schedules because we will need to meet at school around 3 - 4 p.m. in order to get to the harbor and enjoy prime sailing conditions.  More details will be available in class tomorrow night!

This Week's Question: Who has been one of your favorite teachers (at any grade) and why?

  1. Personally, my favorite teacher was my mom from when I was homeschooled. I love her because she prepared me well for school now. I know this because I am smart enough to take APUSH. My mom's difficult lessons and strict attitude prepared me for High School. During tough assignments, she would sit by me and help me with all the problems that I was stuck on. Without her, school now would be much more difficult. No teacher can be better than a mom who loves you enough to homeschool you.

  2. One of my favorite teachers would probably be Mr. Galvan. He taught me so much about Spanish and I enjoyed the fast-paced and challenging environment in his classroom. His class really prepared me for a future in Spanish, which is something that I want to study in college. For that reason, his class helped me immensely. Also, Mr. Galvan was funny, especially about his gatos :)
Another of my favorite teachers is Mr. Bailey, who also taught me a lot about Spanish. He makes class so much fun; he is super easygoing and fun to talk to. I like Mr. Bailey's way of teaching because he is fun, but serious at the same time. He also gives grace and makes school less stressful. I learned a lot in his class and am looking forward to next year!

  3. One of my most favorite teachers would have to be Mrs. Morris in 7th grade. She was very strict; however, it taught me to be more responsible with assignment due dates and thoroughly prepared me for a more challenging, rigorous education in highschool. She also encouraged me in my interest in writing, believing in me without a doubt, and would always inquire about my various sport activities. Her kindness and interest in my aspirations and other achievements, really had an impact on me. For these specific reasons, Mrs. Morris was one of my favorite teachers.

  5. One of my favorite teachers was my second grade teacher Mrs. Tribulet. I loved her class because she read to us and had us read which is one of my favorite past times. She also liked emperor penguns which is my favorite penguin. She was very kind to all of us and let us do a lot of fun projects.

  6. One of my favorite teacher would have to be Mrs. V in 10th grade honors chemistry class. She was very strict but it helps to take the class more seriously and be more responsible for the class. She taught us so much in both chemistry and the attitude of learning. Nonetheless, she let us to try to do the experiments by ourselves which abled us to apply the chemistry knowledge in the lab. Her great way of teaching and the knowledge that she had taught us had a great impact on me.
