This week we will conclude our study of the North American
colonies and their founding. We need to complete the Colonial Comparison
Chart and discuss the 2 book excerpts that you've read. Wednesday (8/22)
will be the Unit #1 TEST, both multiple-choice questions and an essay.
Now that you have an understanding of what was going on in British North
America between 1607 and 1750, we'll cover the French and Indian War and the
Colonies' Path to Independence in Unit #2. Hopefully, the transition into
the regular school year went smoothly last week and you are starting to get
back into the daily routine. Keep on top of class assignments and don't

This Week's Question: Why
do you think so many of Franklin's quotes are still in use today? Which
one do you like the most? Do you have any other favorite quotes?

I think Franklin's quotes are still in use today because they are still relevant and are filled with words of wisdom. I like a lot of his quotes, but if I had to choose, I would say "By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail." However, two other quotes of his that I love are "Three can keep a secret, if two of them are dead" and "There are three things extremely hard: steel, a diamond, and to know one's self." :D
ReplyDeleteFranklin's quotes are still used today because his writings have been so influential in society. Since almost every literate person in America read his book, his legacy of slogans have survived by being passed down from generation to generation. My favorite quote is: "early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise." Other than Franklin, another famous quote I like is from Skyrim: "I used to be an adventurer, just like you, but then I took an arrow to the knee. Now I am a guard."
ReplyDeleteFranklin's quotes are still used today because of his influence and knowledge that he used during the Revolutionary time period. He was intelligent and used his strengths to help shape our nation. His leadership earned him many admirers, and his quotes are still widely know today because of this. Two of my favorite quotes of his are "by failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail" and "three can keep a secret, if two of them are dead."
ReplyDeleteFranklins quotes are still in use today because they are witty and influential. Many Americans have read his book and it has lived on through the years. He was a great leader and scientist earning him much admiration and respect from his fellow colonists. My favorite quot from him would have to be "we are all born ignorant, but one must work hard to remain stupid". I also like "The constitution only gives people the right to pursue happiness. You have to catch it yourself".
